Spent the night to night cooking some good food and trying.... and kinda failing..... at embroidering. What was supposed to be a cigarette kinda looks like a dirty pencil. I will keep at it and hopefully something less pencil like will come out of it!
Here is one of my more recent creations. I have a few more but I haven't taken pictures of them yet. I promise I will get to them soon! I have a few more planned as well as a few embroidery's! Man I've got way too much on the go....
"Listen to me"
Nylon and thread, 6"x8", 2015
Great News! I was interviewed a few weeks ago by a reporter from The Gauntlet, the U of C newspaper and they wrote one awesome article about my show at /Stride +15 and my work! Just click the link and it will send you straight there!
Hope you enjoy it, I know I did!
My Solo Exhibition at the /Stride +15 gallery in Calgary is going up TOMORROW! Come on down to the Epcore Centre and check it out, it will be up until July 31st with reception on July 18th at 6pm.
STRETCH is a three-dimensional installation that investigates the relationship
of construction and deconstruction. The act of sewing nylon under tension pulls
the material to its limits. Eventually, it can no longer withstand the strain
and shreds itself, starting at the weakest point. This cycle is continuous;
repairing a flaw creates another, until there is nothing left but the scars
created by the thread. This constant reparation-disintegration process poses the
question of when to stop trying to fix the imperfection and accept it for what
Here is some photo of one of my most recent video installation pieces. I will upload a video of the whole thing soon!
In the video I wrap my face with the same material that I am projecting onto.
Untitled, yes it is. But here is my newest piece!
Aproximatley 4' X 4', and hard to photograph head on!
Imagine this image degraded and printed onto a sheer piece of fabric, and then stretched and distorted even further.
This is the initial image I will be starting with while I am trying to perfect my ghost printing skills, onto nylon.
This is only the begining, and so far all I have. Check back to see more in progress shots!
This is the current happenings in my studio and things that I think are worth sharing.
